The most Amazing Mum’s & Bub’s Class in the Area. Vicki is a great instructor and so beautifully understanding of the bub’s (and mum’s) needs.
The babies are included in the classes and incorporated into yoga poses. It really helps to relieve the tension I have in my neck and shoulders from holding hub and breastfeeding. I always leave feeling so relaxed – its actually my favourite hour of the whole week! Also a great place top meet other mum’s!

The atmosphere at beautiful Dharma Cottage Yoga is so relaxed and welcoming; your practice starts from the moment you walk through the gates! Vicki greets each student like an old friend.
Her relaxed attitude spreads to the participants and its easy to feel that you are among friends, even with strangers.
I attend the mums and bubs classes and the patience Vicki has throughput the class is astounding, with babies climbing over each other and everything (sometimes her), the occasional grumpy bub and sometimes baby mayhem. She somehow maintains a sense of acceptance, serenity and peace in the class despite all of this. Vicki is attracting a loyal following from those of us who so appreciate being able to bring our little ones into a safe and welcoming space and still be able to enjoy some authentic yoga practice and relaxation.
I find the class the perfect level for me (an experienced yogi) post birth, in that its simple enough to keep up with and still attend to baby, yet varies, challenging and deep enough to keep me interested.
Vicki presents to Akhanda style well, incorporating pranayama, asana an some mindful meditation into each class. The babies are accommodated brilliantly and her class prices are very reasonable.
Dharma Cottage Yoga is a sanctuary which Vicki has beautifully created with her passion of authentic and holistic yoga. She teaches with absolute attention and care and provides a beautiful, nurturing energy to engage in her meditation, pranayama and asana practices.
The classes cater to all levels and none is left behind. I am so thankful for this so thankful for this studio and to all that Vicki provides.

I have been attending yoga at the Dharma Cottage regularly for the past 18 months and will continue to go for as long as I can…
I started in pre-natal classes during my pregnancy – it was amazing for me in preparing to soften my body and focus on my breath throughout labour and the birth.
I now take my daughter to the mums and bubs class, which does wonders to help me relax and stretch out all those sore and tight muscles. Plus we get to have some contact time with other mums and bubs. We have been very blessed to have met some amazing ladies and babies!
Vic – our teacher is an amazing woman with a beautiful soul! Her guiding voice throughout the classes keeps you centred and in the moment. You can feel this awesome energy radiating from within the studio space, as soon as you walk in.
After the class you finish with a pot of tea made from fresh garden herds and a revitalised mind!

Every time I visit Australia from California, I make it a point to take a class at Dharma Cottage Yoga. When I’m taking a class from Vikki I feel completely accepted. She works with her students based on where they are and doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable if you can’t do certain poses. I always feel balanced and at peace at the end of class. She is knowledgeable about the practice of yoga and I always feel secure that I am in good hands during class. I can’t recommend Dharma Cottage Yoga enough.

Himalayan Meditation follows each Yin practice in a new live stream
Sattva Meditation is a Kriya based meditation technique stemming from the Himalayan Tantric Lineage.
This is a comprehensive, simple and effective technique which consists of Pranayama (Breath work), Kriya and Mantra.
When practiced 25 minutes a day, it can benefit all aspects of ones life.
The word Trataka means ‘to gaze steadily’. Regular practice of Trataka develops the power of concentration and memory. Trataka also helps to strengthen the eye muscles and so improves the eyesight.Trataka practice automatically leads to meditation. The practice is only 10 minutes long and is suitable for all levels including beginners. A perfect introduction to meditation and a great way to start your yoga practice.
DIDGERIDOO SOUND HEALING
(Selected classes – TBA)Didgeridoo healing is the use of didgeridoo sound to heal people (and animals). The didgeridoo is an instrument that produces low frequency sound that we can hear and actual vibrations that we can feel, especially if the end of the didgeridoo is placed close to the body.
For anyone to be in the same space as a didgeridoo being played is usually a healing experience, even though many people would not even be aware of it. Listening to the didge seems to awaken deep and ancient feelings creating emotions within us which are soothing and healing, especially the deep relaxation the didge allows people to experience.
There is no doubt that listening to the didge is a very effective treatment for stress and many of our regular visitors use the didj to wind down after a stressful day at work.
Here are some comments people gave when asked for their first experience of didgeridoo sound: deeply touching, in tune with the world, takes away from thinking, awe inspiring, magical, feels like a voice from the earth, ancient, haunting, powerful, primal, other worldly, mesmerizing, calming, enchanting, soothing, mystical, hypnotic, relaxing, earthly feeling, primordial.
In Sanskrit, Akhanda means whole, or indivisible. Akhanda is a holistic yoga teaching approach. In a class you will explore:
A balance of yin/yang postures, pranayama, mantra, asana, relaxation, visualization and meditation.
A class that balances all the directional movements of the spine.
In all the stations – standing, crouching, sitting, lying on the belly, laying on the back, arm balances and inversions.A balance between structural cues and inner inquiry, so that students can explore their own breath and body experience within the range of safe movement.
BEGINNERS – YOGA VIRGINS
Beginner’s courses are designed for students who have never practiced yoga or have not practiced for some time. Students will be safely guided into each pose – Safety is priority in all yoga practises. No Pain, No Pain.
Everybody is different, every pose looks different from person to person, and that’s OK, we are here to do our own practice. Yoga is about holding poses according to your ability and each day your body can be different.
There are many variation options available to make each pose more accessible to every student.
We will work through the poses with breath to unite the body and the mind, one step at a time.
PRENATAL YOGA, PRANAYAMA & MEDITATION.

A dedicated prenatal yoga class where students only practice poses that will safely enhance your pregnancy. Deep toning of the birth muscles and focus on overall circulation.
Meet other ‘mums to be’ and share experiences in a safe, nurturing environment.
A practice that allows women time to connect with their baby and the changing body.
The mantras and sounds of yoga establish a vibratory communication with the baby.
Yoga helps to ground the emotions. Physically, yoga creates more space for breath, baby and the organs as they are pushed upwards to make space for your growing bub.
Classes focus on high strength to support the increasing weight of the baby.
Finally, preparations for childbirth by practicing to consciously relax and focus on the breath. Learning to breath into the stretch or discomfort, to explore the sensations as opposed to having a fearful or negative relationship to pain (or strong sensation).
MUM’S & BUB’S/TODDLER’S PRACTICE

Generally after six weeks (if baby has been delivered vaginally) mum can resume a gentle yoga practice. Yoga practice includes gradual abdominal strengthening and poses that assist in lifting and toning the uterus.
Caesarean Section or labour delivery complications – resume your practice after wounds heal.
Incorporating baby in poses enhances attachment and bonding. Songs and movement resonate with bubs and toddlers providing a positive experience for mum and baby.
All Mum’s & Bub’s classes close with an introduction to baby massage, which allows quality time and promotes relaxation, mind & body awareness for both mum and baby.
All Mum’s & Toddlers’ classes close with mum’s Savasana (relaxation) while toddlers enjoy story time, allowing mum some time out to just ‘be’, relax and rejuvenate.
As new mums we need to take the time to self-nurture, time for rest and quietness.
Postnatal classes enhance mums physical and mental wellbeing.
We don’t use our bodies to get into a pose – We use the pose to get into our body
Most forms of yoga today are dynamic, active practices designed to work only half of our body, the muscular half, the ‘yang’ tissues.
Yin Yoga allows us to work the other half, the deeper ‘yin’ tissues of our ligaments, joints, deep fascial networks and even our bones. All of our tissues are important and need to be exercised so that we can achieve optimal health and vitality.
Yin Yoga is yielding, allowing and nourishing. Yin Yoga is simple, but simple does not mean easy. We can remain in postures anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. After you have experienced Yin, you will realise you have been doing only half your yoga practice.
The Three Tattvas of Yin Yoga Practice
Come into the pose to an appropriate depth – your ‘edge’ – Allow your body to open naturally
Resolve to remain still – stillness in the body, the breath and the mind
Hold the pose for time – yin tissues respond to long holds with reasonable amounts of traction
